After  the first night in a bed for 6 weeks (we slept like logs!) we went with mum to Stapleford Carnival.  (Stapleford is the little town I'm from).  It was a fete and gala with lots of stalls - some selling things, some promoting clubs and societies -Hedgehog preservation was one (and I don't think it meant dried or bottled) - all very English.  There was an arena with various acts like girls being gymnastical on horseback, marching girls, bands etc.

Then we went for a pub lunch and just relaxed for the rest of the day.  It has an Autumn feel in England, considerably cooler than the 28/29 degrees we just had in Switzerland.
